Course content

Introduce a simple version of pranayama that can be practiced by everyone.

◎Led PrimaryMysore

Darby and Joanne will lead the self-practice style classes and give personal adjustments and advice to students working their way through their practice whether it is primary, advanced or intermediate.

◎Foundations & Standing Poses

In this workshop we will explore basic asanas, with a particular focus on alignment and breathing, as well as how to link the asanas into a flowing sequence. We will cover the sun salutations & standing poses, building a solid foundation from which to progress and get the most out of your practice.

◎Bandha, Drishti & Vinyasa

Locate your locks and move into your breath to free your practice. One of the challenges of the Ashtanga flow is the vinyasa. Breaking the vinyasa down into its components, we will look at ways in which we can work towards achieving the float back and float through by combining various techniques with breath, bandha, foundation, alignment and Drishti. With these under control, anything can become possible!

◎Forward Bends & Side Twists

With alignment, protecting the lower back and finding real length through reaching.

Twists help remove stiffness in the back, neck and shoulders and tone the internal organs. We will incorporate the standing, and sitting twists into a workshop that improves digestion and brings more flexibility into the spine.

◎Back bending

Not to be afraid...if you have a sore back or back injury...it ́s a must!  We will work step by step in practicing the key alignment points that help us practice these poses with ease and saftety.  We will help students build confidence while finding ways to work with common issues surrounding these poses.  With a focus on how to protect vulnerable areas such as the lower back, shoulders and neck.

◎Adjustment Clinics

Darby will share his expertise in teaching skills and giving adjustment to students.  This class is highly recommended for anyone who is currently teaching  yoga or for those students at any level curious to learn more.
